Julia’s Garden Waterfall Project
December 2006
North
Attleboro
,
Mass – In May of 2003, a sweet little nine year old girl named Julia Cekala passed away
at the Boston Children’s Hospital after battling a series of illnesses
throughout her short life. With help from their family and friends
and support from the town of
North
Attleboro, her parents, Wally and Lynda, decided to construct a playground and memorial
garden dedicated to celebrating Julia’s life and interests at the World War I
Memorial Park in
North
Attleboro.
While
the grand opening for Phase 1a of Julia’s Garden is not planned until Spring
2007, several wonderful features are already in place including Julia’s
Playground and a beautiful new 85’ long waterfall constructed by MetroWest Water
Gardens of Hopedale, Mass.
“We were
very happy and honored to be part of the Julia’s Gard
en project” said Tom
Frost, owner of
MetroWest
Water
Gardens
. “It is
important to be able to give back to the communities that you work in and, after
meeting and talking to Lynda Cekala about the project and about Julia’s life and
illnesses, we were very happy to donate our services and expertise to the very
worthy project.”
With
the benefit of a milder than normal fall temperatures, the MetroWest Water
Gardens crew took advantage of the weather and installed the water feature on a
hillside in the garden for all to enjoy. Future phases of the Julia’s
Garden project will include the construction of a path adjacent to the waterfall
and stream as well as a bridge and accompanying
landscaping\planting.
